Choirs
The liturgical calendar keeps all choirs and instrumentalists busy through Holy Week, Easter, Lessons and Carols, and Christmas Eve. LisaDiane Etheredge leads the All Saints’ Handbell Choir. This is a group of committed musicians that adds much to our services during the year. Both the Quin Choir (9:00 a.m. service) and the Parish Choir (11:30 a.m. service) always welcome new members, and have a new repertoire throughout the year. The Concert Mass is performed early in the calendar year; with rehearsals beginning in the late fall. The Fifth Sunday Acoustic Mass at the 9:00 service give the great pool of musical ability in our parish to shine and add variety to the liturgy on these infrequent fifth Sundays. 2010 brought the creation of the All Saints’ Brass Ensemble, which debuted during Advent at the 11:30 service. This group, comprised of interested, capable instrumentalists in the parish, play from time to time during the year, with different instruments in the ensemble as needed.
God of glory, around whose eternal throne all the heavenly powers offer their ceaseless songs of praise: Grant that we may overhear these songs, and with our own lips interpret them to all in whose presence we play or sing; That your church may behold the beauty of God, and see with mortal eyes the land that is afar off, where all your promises are celebrated, and where all your love in every sight and sound is the theme of eternal rejoicing; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. — The Church Musician’s Prayer, written by Erik Routley (1917-1982)
