Is This Heaven?
To All the Saints of Austin:
Becky and I are heading north on I-35 for some exciting time in sunny Iowa on Wednesday. But I’m taking work with me, and very much available. Call me any time at +1 (760) 851-4641, or set up a time at http://meet-with-the-priest.appointlet.com.
I’m preaching this Sunday from the Buckeye State, so the sermon may or may not be about corn. It’s definitely about wheat and weeds, so you’ll have to tune in to find out details on Sunday at 10:30 Central time at https://www.allsaints-austin.org/LiveWorship.
The Daughters of the King really needs your help completing a parish-wide phone-a-thon to make contact with every household in the congregation. The purpose is simply to maintain contact with our entire community and maintain our relationships while we’re apart. The word “religion” is from the Latin word meaning “to bind,” and our hope is to maintain our bonds to one another as “ligaments” binding the Body of Christ together in love. The DOK can definitely use your help: If you’d like to volunteer to place phone calls, please contact Patti Woolery-Price ([email protected]; +1 (512) 476-7643), Barbara Hannon ([email protected]; +1 (512) 502-4504), or Mary Irvine ([email protected]; +1 512-785-6169). DOK members heading up the effort include Vivien Geneser, Carmen Guerra, Barbara Hannon, Mary Irvine, Lisa McCaffery, Kathryn Nelson, Lana Placek, Bettie Pollan, and Patti Woolery-Price. Many thanks to all who will exercise leadership, compassion, and hospitality in this important effort.
Don’t forget also that if you need help during the pandemic or have help to give, please contact Saints on Call at [email protected].
Not yet clear where we’re going, but I’m sure that the Lord who takes us where we do not want to go (John 21:18) also loves us to the end. What can God have in mind? If we’re all in for a shock, God has given me a great gift in finding the way forward with you.
