Keeping Our Bearings in a Pandemic
I want to share with you a resource I recently learned about. In a recent meeting of Austin-area Episcopal clergy, a colleague recommended the “Osterholm Update: COVID-19 – CIDRAP” Podcast, which I’ve already found very helpful. The current episode discusses the UK variant, B.1.1.7, and Dr. Osterholm’s analysis helps me more thoughtfully think about our near-term thinking around possible return to in-person outdoor worship, and about a thoughtful posture toward the ongoing pandemic.
Michael Osterholm is an American epidemiologist, regents professor, and director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. On November 9 he was named a member of President-elect Joe Biden's COVID-19 Advisory Board.
I commend his podcast to you, and also want to ask if you’ll share some of your own thoughts about the pandemic with me by answering a very brief survey (I know, I know) at
https://s2.lanehensley.org/index.php/797577?lang=en. Your feedback will help guide the Vestry and Worship Team as we make plans in the coming days about Lent, Easter and beyond.
Hoping you all are staying safe and warm. I miss you very much.
