Life is Changed, Not Ended
To All the Saints of Austin:
As always, I’m looking forward to spending time in worship with you tomorrow at 10:30 Central time at https://www.allsaints-austin.org/LiveWorship. Tomorrow I’ll be preaching, Steve Kinney will be officiating, and Pam Bell will make her directorial debut!
I’ve let myself get behind on posting earlier services to YouTube. The Zoom video files are very difficult and time consuming to edit, but I’m getting close, and hoping to have them finished by late Sunday. You can view earlier services here, and you can view all our video content at Saints of Austin on YouTube and Subscribe to updates!
The Daughters of the King once again will be leading a parish-wide phone tree effort to make contact with every household in the congregation. The purpose is simply to maintain contact with our entire community and maintain our relationships while we’re apart. The word “religion” is from the Latin word meaning “to bind,” and our hope is to maintain our bonds to one another as “ligaments” binding the Body of Christ together in love. The DOK can definitely use your help: If you’d like to volunteer to place phone calls, please contact Patti Woolery-Price ([email protected]; +1 (512) 476-7643), Barbara Hannon ([email protected]; +1 (512) 502-4504), or Mary Irvine ([email protected]; +1 512-785-6169). DOK members heading up the effort include Vivien Geneser, Carmen Guerra, Barbara Hannon, Mary Irvine, Lisa McCaffery, Kathryn Nelson, Lana Placek, Bettie Pollan, and Patti Woolery-Price. Many thanks to all who will exercise leadership, compassion, and hospitality in this important effort.
Don’t forget also that if you need help during the pandemic or have help to give, please contact Saints on Call at [email protected].
Some sad news to report, I’m afraid:
Endowment Committee member and former senior warden Trish Conradt’s husband Buck Wood died yesterday morning after brief illness. Services are not yet scheduled, and are likely to be private to keep the gathering small in light of the COVID pandemic. Trish can be reached at Mrs. Patricia Conradt, 3915 Greystone Dr, Austin 78731; [email protected]; +1 (512) 917-8782.
Chancellor Ann Vanderburg’s father Bob Engles also died yesterday, in Durant, Okla. The family do not anticipate a public funeral service. Ann can be reached at Ms. Ann Vanderburg, 602 E 46th St., Austin 78751; [email protected]; +1 (512) 695-4508.
I’m sad to report that our new bookkeeper has resigned unexpectedly, and that we’ve resumed our search for a prompt replacement. In the meantime, our previous bookkeeper, Anita Barrick, is holding down the fort and making sure deposits and payments are made. We’ve made the decision not to send quarterly statements this quarter, although we’ll be happy to send you one on request.
I still want to encourage everyone to visit http://meet-with-the-priest.appointlet.com to schedule 30, 60, or 90 minutes with me by phone or Zoom. Don’t worry about what time is convenient for me. I’ve only opened up the times that are. And if you’ve already done this, do it again. If I end up spending all my time chatting with parishioners, that’s good for me.
You’re great people and I’m eager to connect with you soon.
