Search Committee Training and Interview Question Writing
During the search for All Saints’ next rector, there are two primary priorities: confidentiality and thoroughness. We are held to complete confidentiality so as to make this process equally fair to all candidates, and to assure we do nothing to potentially impact any candidate’s relationship with their current parish.
Thoroughness is extremely important to the search committee. To get started we participated in a training program offered by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas (EDOT) that is required of all parishes in EDOT looking for a new rector. The information we received is helping us to create a well thought out, organized plan and interview questions. We are carefully keeping in mind the information gathered in our Parish Survey. Our goal is to conduct a thorough interview process that reflects the parish we have been, are, and aim to be, as reflected in our Parish Profile.
After we have created our interview questions, we’ll begin practicing mock interviews so that when we receive names of potential candidates from EDOT, we are ready to have thorough, comfortable, and informative interviews.
We will provide periodic updates on our progress here and in the Saints’ Alive. You are welcome to suggest potential candidates via the Rector Nomination Form.
