Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyon (c. 202) said “’The glory of God is a human being fully alive.’ The sentence has two meanings. One refers to Jesus–Jesus fully alive, Jesus is fully God, and the glory of God is the meeting of full divinity and full humanity in the life of Jesus. The other meaning refers to humanity. The most apt form of worship is the full implementation of the gifts and opportunities of the person, the thorough engagement with the wonders and mysteries of creation, and the unabashed embodiment of the grace and mercy of the gospel. Such is glory. God wants, asks, or expects nothing more.” — Sam Wells, Incarnational Ministry: Being with the Church.
