Music

The music tradition at All Saints’ Parish is a rich one.

The Choir

The Parish Choir sings at the 10:15 a.m. service from Homecoming in September, through Trinity Sunday in May or June.

Music plays a large role in many special services during the year, such as Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve services, the Choral Mass (with orchestra), and Holy Week services.

Recent presentations with orchestra have included Missa Secunda by Hans Leo Hassler (2017), Holy Apostles Mass by David Hurd (2018), the Little Organ Mass by Franz Joseph Haydn (2019), Requiem by Fauré (2019), the motet Wachet auf by JCF Bach (2022), and Coronation Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (2023).

The Parish Choir participates in Advent Lessons and Carols on the first Sunday of Advent. The choir also provides music for Ash Wednesday and the special services of Holy Week including Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil.

Instrumentalists/Bells

Members of the parish participate as guest instrumentalists in worship services. Any other members of the parish who play an instrument and might wish to be included in the parish music, from time to time, will feel free to contact Gregory Eaton. He would be very glad to find ways to include any member of the parish who might be interested in taking part in the musical portion of our worship. Along these same lines, if you are interested in joining in the All Saints’ Bell Choir, Gregory will be happy to meet with you about that also.

Organ Programs

Gregory Eaton came to All Saints’ in 2014, after over 15 years of playing weekly concerts in his previous parish. He is interested in finding ways in which to do some sort of regular organ programs here at All Saints’. He welcomes any ideas for how future programs might be worked into All Saints’ already generous round of parish activities.

When in our music God is glorified, and adoration leaves no room for pride, it is as though the whole creation cried ‘Alleluia!’ — F. Pratt Green, Hymn 420, The Hymnal 1982
